The Stage Display editor actually has all the same features as the new slide editor – plus a few extras – which is great. LooksĪll these output options are great – but what can you do with it? Surely you won’t need more than one main output, and one stage display? Propresenter lower thirds plus# Wrong! Creating a separate Lower-Third output for video is possibly one of the most commonly requested features. Several people, including myself, have written third-party tools to enable this.

Now, this functionality is native to ProPresenter. The ‘Looks’ configuration screen allows you to specify which layers are sent to each screen. Not only this, but you can also override the Presentation Theme (‘Template’ in Pro6 terminology). You could send a special lower-thirds theme to your web stream (and alpha key it), or maybe send fancy decorative lyrics to a centre screen while sending just plain old text to the side screens. Turning the key onīefore you start playing with the settings of your overlay you need to turn it on so you can see the details.This configuration is quite flexible, and can even be changed mid-event with a command attached to a slide (or the click of a button in the menu). Typically downstream keys are used for a simple watermark logo in a corner. It has always made more sense to me to apply lyrics as downstream keys and I have used both for lyric overlays but the power of the upstream key is what makes this solution work.

In the Blackmagic design Atem software the upstream key is far more powerful than the downstream key. In this case we are going to use the upstream key. If you think of it like a river, the upstream key happens at the top of the river before the input switching happens while the downstream key is applied on top of the final video output. Keying is the process of making parts of the video transparent so it can be composited over other elements. Only one line at a time looked a bit to empty on the in-room screen, but 4 or more lines starts to crowd out the online stream. The adjustments to place it in the lower third for the stream will be done later. While you could also do this with top aligned text, the point is that you can place your text on the screen so it appears appropriately for the in-room audience. I find outlines a bit of a dated look and even shadows to some extend but a subtle shadow can help considerably Vertically aligned text By setting a dark grey shadow or outline it will pretty much look black on the live stream and allow your text to still pop in front of lighter sections of the video footage.

When setting up the transparency it is possible to make blacks clear but dark greys semi-transparent. While it would be possible to use colours and use a Chroma key rather than a luma key, we found the elegance of simple white text on a black background worked. White text and Black BackgroundĪ simple black background is all that is needed. This very simple setup can be done with any slide presentation software from google slides, powerpoint, to more specialized programs like propresenter, easyworship and proclaim.
